Hawks Host Spring Baseball Tournament

GALT, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch baseball team hosted its traditional Sprint tournament over Spring Break and came out victorious against Redwood Christian and Ben Holt College Prep Academy.
Liberty Ranch scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Monday of Spring Break. They put the hurt on the Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats with a 15-3 victory. 
Vance Moe once again managed to support the team while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Moe was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on sophomore Derek Nelson, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Another sophomore making a difference was Landon Peterson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Liberty Ranch's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4. As for Ben Holt College Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Later that day, the Liberty Ranch Hawks walked away with a 5-2 win over the Redwood Christian Eagles.
The team relied heavily on Andrew Guthrie, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Liberty Ranch's victory bumped its record up to 7-4. As for Redwood Christian, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
The Hawks were scheduled to play River City on Monday, but when Sheldon was not able to get out of school, as hosts they graciously gave their game against River City to Redwood Christian, which was scheduled to play Sheldon.
