GALT, CA (MPG) - Alexis Ortega, who is a sophomore at Liberty Ranch High School and a Galt youth commissioner, has just earned her certification as a Taekwondo instructor by the United World of Taekwondo Association.  She now holds the esteemed rank of 3rd Poom Black Belt.
Ortega has been training in Taekwondo since she was four years old.
She has been working up to her third-degree black belt for the last six years and has been training to be an instructor for the last three years.
Ortega says she really loves training, and when asked why she wanted to further her education and become an instructor she responded, “I wanted to become an instructor because I want to help people see how much they can accomplish and how good they can become and feel how good reaching their goals can be.”
“Some kids come to Taekwondo for their confidence and some come for other things. Helping them achieve their goals of becoming a black belt or just gaining confidence really makes me feel good.”
