Jr. Hawk Wrestlers Score Big at Tourney

FAIR OAKS, CA (MPG) - Galt Jr. Hawks Wrestling Club had a great showing this past weekend. Six wrestlers competed at the SAWA Bronco Spring Tournament at Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks. 
In the Bantam weight class, Wesley Hernandez and Bryce Dodson wrestled in Freestyle. Wesley battled back from an injury in round 2 to secure a win by tech fall in his third match. Westley placed third in the bracket and scored a total of 8.5 points for the team. Wesley also wrestled in the Greco class for the first time. He performed amazingly and clutched a second-place finish for the Hawks. Bryce had great matches and wrestled hard, securing a fourth-place finish. Bryce scored 4 points for the team.
Samuel Hernandez wrestled in the Novice bracket for Freestyle. Samuel won by tech fall over his first opponent and won by fall halfway into the first round in his second match. He was able to claim 13.5 points for the team and secure a second-place finish. Samuel also wrestled in the Greco class and put forth a great effort, collecting a third- place finish.
Dylan Dodson wrestled in the Novice bracket for Freestyle. While being a first-year wrestler, Dylan showed great heart and fought with determination to secure a third-place finish in his bracket. 
Terra Thornburgh wrestled in both the Intermediate Folkstyle Girls bracket as well as the Novice Freestyle Girls bracket. Terra is a first-year wrestler and showed amazing heart, fighting hard in each one of her matches. In her third match of the Freestyle bracket, she was able to get her first takedown of the year. Terra was able to claim a fourth-place medal and 4 points for the Hawks in the Freestyle bracket and a second-place metal in the Folkstyle bracket.
In the School B/G Folkstyle bracket, Ethan Fluty claimed a third-place finish. In his first match he was able to win by fall in under a minute. He took the win in the first round in his second match as well. Ethan was able to claim 9 points for the Hawks.
On March 30, six Jr. Hawk wrestlers competed at the MDWA Rumble in the Den at Edna Hill Middle School in Brentwood. 
In the 8U Freestyle class, there were four astounding athletes. Beckham Krudop wrestled in the 47-49 weight class. Beckham placed second after hard-fought matches and pinning his second opponent in the first round. He was able to earn 4 points for the Jr. Hawks. Nathan Herring and Wesley Hernandez wrestled in the 44-51 weight class. Nathan wrestled with all his heart to claim a fourth-place finish and earn 5.5 points for the Jr. Hawks. Wesley won two of his three matches and brought a whopping 14 points in for the Hawks. In the 40-45 weight class, Liam Elliott showed up to win. Liam placed first in his weight class after winning two matches by fall in the first round and his third match by tech fall. Liam brought home an astounding 19.5 points for the Jr. Hawks.
Braxton Krudop wrestled in the 10U Freestyle 79-84 class. Braxton claimed first place by winning all three of his hard-fought matches. He won by fall in two of his matches and by tech fall in one of them. He was able to claim an amazing 19.5 points for the Jr. Hawks. 
Samuel Hernandez wrestled in the 12U 88-93 class. Samuel won by fall over two of his four opponents and by tech fall over the other two. He was able to claim 17 points for the team and secure an amazing first-place finish. 
Wesley Hernandez and Samuel Hernandez competed in the Greco class. Wesley snatched a second-place finish and Samuel claimed a third-place medal.
