GALT, CA (MPG) -  At its regular public meeting on Thursday, April 18, the Galt Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees unanimously named Anna Trunnell as Superintendent to succeed Superintendent Lisa Pettis who will retire June 30.
Trunnell has 25 years of experience in public education, serving in her career as a middle school and high school teacher, high school administrator, principal of a K-8 school, director of Secondary Education, director of Curriculum and Professional Learning, executive director of Instructional Technology and Curriculum, and assistant superintendent of Human Resources.
Currently serving as a superintendent, a role she has held for three years, Trunnell said she believes that effective school systems are built on a foundation of equity, trust, teamwork, and the ability to engage and support young people.
Her experience is rooted in building relationships and working collaboratively with all stakeholders including students, parents, classified and certificated staff, and administration.
At the forefront of her work is ensuring that students receive the resources necessary to achieve college and career success.
In addition to her experience in education, Trunnell earned a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis in English with a minor in Community Development, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, Sacramento.
Trunnell is committed to life-long learning, public service and engaging with community-based organizations outside of her work life.
Trunnell will begin her employment with Galt Joint Union High School District on July 1.
