SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The National Weather Service is forecasting some rivers and streams in Sacramento County may reach flood stage due to the incoming storm.  The Sacramento County Department of Water Resources (DWR) wants to remind residents in the unincorporated areas there are three sandbag locations open.  These locations have been open since November and are for residents who believe their property will be in danger from the heavy rains resulting in flooding.

Branch Center (3847 Branch Center Rd.)

Orangevale Community Center (6826 Hazel Ave.)

Westside Park (6555 West 2nd St.)

Sacramento County supplies the sand and bags, but residents will need to bring a shovel.  There is a 20-bag limit per visit.  Residents not living in the unincorporated areas of the County will need to check with their cities for sandbag information.  The public can visit

Before the rain falls, residents are also encouraged to clear storm drains of debris to reduce the chance for street flooding.  During the storm, residents living near creeks and streams can use the County ALERT system to monitor rising streams in the unincorporated areas.
