SACRAMENTO
COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The four-legged friends of Sacramento County have something
to wag their tails about as the 2nd annual Roy
C. Marcum Animal Care Faire returns
to Bradshaw
Animal Shelter on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3839 Bradshaw Rd.
This free-admission pet festival is open to the public and promises a day of
fun for animal lovers of all ages. More than 60 booths will be in attendance
including food trucks, dozens of pet-related vendors, other municipal shelters
and 501c3 animal rescues, and more. From pet accessories and raffles to face
painters and handmade dog treats, there will be something for everyone to
enjoy. Dogs on leash are welcome at the event.
If attendees don't yet have a furry friend or have been thinking about adopting another one, the Animal Care Faire is the perfect
opportunity to welcome
home a new pet. The animal shelter will be
open to the public from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and adoption fees for dogs and cats
will be waived. Included in each pet's adoption is their spay/neuter surgery,
microchip, up-to-date vaccinations and monthly preventatives, and a 1-year
license for Sacramento County residents.
The Roy C. Marcum Animal Care Faire was established in 2022 to honor the memory
of fallen Sacramento County animal control officer Roy C. Marcum, who was shot
and killed in the line of duty on November 28, 2012. In memory of Officer
Marcum, the dog
park in front of the animal shelter
was renamed the “Roy
C. Marcum Bark Park.” The event not only honors
Officer Marcum's legacy, but also encourages responsible pet ownership and
animal welfare in the community.
