GALT, CA (MPG) - Come one, come all.
On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Galt community is encouraged to participate in National Night Out, a free annual event that is taking place throughout not just Sacramento County, but the entire country.
From 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 6, Galt residents can celebrate in three different locations with plenty of activities offered. Residents have the choice of visiting the Community Park (1000 Walnut Ave.), Meadowview Park (1128 Meadowview Drive) or the Sports Complex (1022 Caroline Ave.). Food, music, games and more will be enjoyed by all.
So, what is National Night Out?
Throughout the country, National Night Out is a project that brings residents and local law enforcement together in a positive way. According to the National Night Out website, “National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.”
More than 17,000 communities in the United States participate each year, including Galt, according to National Night Out officials.
Every year, residents are encouraged to lock their doors, turn on their outdoor lights and join in on the fun with their local police department. Neighborhoods host various community events such as block parties, parades, cookouts and festivals.
“We are excited to unite our community for National Night Out 2024. Your participation and support are key to making this event a success. Together, we can build a safer, more connected community. Thank you for your dedication,” said Julio Roque, Galt Police Department community service officer.
Roque added that anyone who attends National Night Out will be entered to win multiple types of prizes, including high-tech TVs.
Residents are encouraged to join the fun. More information about National Night Out can be found at https://natw.org/about.
