GALT, CA (MPG) - The G.A.L.T. Shooters Varsity Squad kicked off their season with their first Sporting Clays competition of the academic year at Birds Landing Shooting Sports.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Joe Camacho, the team has been preparing rigorously for the challenges of the new season. Sporting Clays, a challenging discipline that simulates the unpredictability of bird hunting, demands precision, quick reflexes and a strategic approach. For the G.A.L.T. Shooters, every target presents an opportunity to showcase their training and teamwork.
“The Varsity Squad has been training hard in preparation for this season,” said Coach Camacho. “That training is laying a great foundation for a successful season.”
The G.A.L.T. Shooters practice weekly at the Alta Mesa Gun Club and compete in the California Youth Shooting Sports Association (CYSSA), a league that includes over 60 high schools throughout the state. The program helps young athletes develop their marksmanship skills and fosters camaraderie among participants.
“The Varsity Squad is focused on their goals and driven by a passion for the sport and a desire to excel,” said Camacho. “I have no doubt this Varsity Squad will leave a lasting impression in our shooting community.
“However, the journey this season is not just about scores and standings; it’s about the journey of growth, learning and camaraderie gained through shared challenges and triumphs.”
Top shooting honors from the first event go to John Camacho, who came within one target of medaling in his division. Timothy Domingo, a recent graduate of LRHS now competing as a Young Adult Shooter for the team, also finished just one target shy of earning a medal.
The G.A.L.T. Shooters look forward to building on their strong start and continuing to represent their schools with pride.
Varsity returns to Birds Landing on Sept. 22 for the second of a five-series shoot.
