Responsibility: Character Trait of Focus for September and October
Oct 14, 2024 09:28AM ● By Galt Community of Character CoalitionGALT, CA (MPG) - For the Galt community, responsibility is clearly an important value. In fact, when the Galt Community of Character Coalition was formed in 2007, responsibility was one of the six core values selected by a survey of our community as a necessary ingredient to strengthen our families and build a better community. Responsibility is the character trait of focus for September and October each year in Galt.
Because responsibility is a core value of living honorably, it is crucial for personal development and community resolve. In our Galt schools, responsibility is taught to students at every grade level and in every setting, from classroom to cafeteria to playground, to athletic competitions. Responsibility requires us to take care of our duties and hold ourselves accountable for our actions. Responsibility is being dependable when we have things to do, not blaming others when we don’t do our part. Responsibility is trustworthiness. Research shows that taking responsibility leads to improved achievement and greater self-esteem.
Perhaps you know someone in our community or in our schools that you consider to be a role model of character trait responsibility. The Galt Character Coalition would like to hear from you.
