SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The Galt Warriors cross country team’s second Sierra Valley Conference (SVC) League meet of the season was held at Rosemont High School on Oct. 9.
The boys and girls varsity teams placed third, while the Warrior girls frosh/soph team took second place. The athletes continue to improve as the season winds down, and 16 of the Warrior athletes improved on their records.
The Warriors are able to boast six top 10 finishers. In the varsity boys competition, senior Kitto Gonzalez came in first, senior Logan Rose placed third and junior Alejandro Herrera placed seventh.
In the girls varsity competition, Senior Emilyann Sheldon placed ninth in the 5K race, and in the frosh/soph division Emily Razo placed second while Sophomore Kristine Meixner placed sixth.
Boys frosh/soph two-mile race results: Elliott Kramer, 11th place with a time of 12:07.15 (PR); Daniel Crownover, 25th place at 13:08.90 (PR); Julian Alvarado, 31st place in 13:41.64 (PR); Aiden Bowles, 32nd place clocked at 13:55.61; Mateo Mejia, 35th place with a time of 14:18.53 (PR); and Rylan Graviette, 36th place at 14:38.35 (PR).
Girls frosh/soph two-mile race results: Emily Razo secured second place with a personal record of 13:35.44; Kristine Meixner finished sixth, clocking in at 14:16.65, also a personal record; Danielle Aragon achieved 12th place with a personal best of 15:27.67; Analisa Alfaro came in 13th at 15:51.96; Paola Corral placed 19th with a time of 18:24.89; and Maeve Cordonnier finished 20th at 18:34.27.
Boys varsity 5K race results: Kitto Gonzalez secured first place with a time of 16:00.46 (personal record); Logan Rose finished third with 16:26.66 (personal record); Alejandro Herrera took seventh place with 17:27.10 (personal record); Xavier Gomez came in 31st at 19:52.86 (personal record); Garrett Rose was right behind in 32nd with 19:59.33 (personal record); David Espinoza Terrones placed 33rd with a time of 20:06.27; Jonathon Power completed the race in 25:46.33.
Girls varsity 5K race: Emilyann Sheldon placed ninth with a time of 24:28.16 (PR); Alanna Juarez finished 15th at 24:15.22; Elia Rodriguez was 16th with 24:18.60; Nora Werdon clocked in at 24:24.28; Mae Trull came in 22nd at 26:49.43 (PR); Ella Ipson finished at 26:50.94 (PR).
Head coach Bruce Peterson has his eye on the championships.
“I was happy with the effort of our runners today,” said Peterson. “This was our second meet in five days and it’s been very hot so it was a challenge. We still have work to do to get ready for league championships, subsections and sections, which are at the end of October into November.”
