PLACERVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch football team headed up the hill to El Dorado on Friday, Oct. 11. They soundly put the Cougars away with a final score of 37-56.
The Hawk offense was nothing if not consistent, scoring two touchdowns and two two-point conversions after touchdowns each of the four quarters.
Head Coach Warren Schroeder is looking ahead to the Bradshaw game this week.
“El Dorado was a great test for us going into a tough game against Bradshaw this week,” said Schroeder.
“Offensively, we executed well as our young offensive line opened up great running lanes for our running backs.
"Our quarterback, Wyatt Blevins, did a good job directing the offense and ensuring that we got into the end zone on practically every drive. We will continue to develop and improve defensively as we have some young players filling in for starters who unfortunately went down with season-ending injuries.”
Senior Joseph Brown carried the ball 24 times, gaining a total of 333 all-purpose yards, making his season total 1,311 yards with three games left before the playoffs. Brown also snagged an interception.
Liberty Ranch’s Andrew Quinn continues to perform well with 170 yards, Camren Hudson had 54 yards, Lucas Temple had a 35-yard reception and is back from injury, and Brody Johnston rushed for 10 yards.
Quarterback Wyatt Blevins completed three out of four passes and threw for a total of 48 yards.
Brown managed four touchdowns; Quinn-2, Hudson-1 and Temple-1.
On the defense side, George Adrian and Cesar Becerra each sacked the quarterback once, and Sean O’Brien and Andres Raya combined on a sack of the Cougar quarterback.
O’Brien and Adrian were in on six tackles while Kobe Aguillen and Hudson each made four.
Each participating in three tackles were Johnston, Axel Torres and Quinn.
The Hawks are scheduled to face first-place Bradshaw Christian on Friday, Oct. 18 at home.
