GALT, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch volleyball team had a perfect league season and took the honors this year. Under the coaching of Mark Snow, the team made the playoffs and got all the way to the final round of section title. While it lost the title to Ripon, the team is to be congratulated for making it farther than any team in Liberty Ranch History.
Paityn Snow played varsity all four years and was the first sophomore to be named league MVP in anyone’s recollection. Snow was awarded the honor once again in her junior year and now for a third time this year. This is a huge accomplishment.
Snow now has a few records and will have her poster on the wall in the Hawk Nest. She exceeded 500 kills in the season, making her the first player ever to do so at Liberty Ranch or in the Sierra Valley Conference. She was the first player to reach the 1,000-kill benchmark. Snow didn’t stop there; she finished her season adding those kills and set the record high with more than 1,500.
Snow, who has been playing volleyball since she was 8, comes from a family of volleyball players.
“When I first won MVP of the league, I was shocked,” said Snow. “My sister had gotten it before me, and I had hoped that one day I would get it, but I never thought it would be as a sophomore. When I got it this year, I was so surprised because there were other players in our league who I thought had a good shot at getting it as well.”
Snow has a goal to improve every game.
“The thing that motivates me in volleyball is my will to get better every game,” explained Snow. “My coaches have taught me to play the game as if it were my last, and this season that really was the case. I have worked very hard for this sport, and I have loved every second doing it.”
Hawk Athletic Director Samantha Vitoria has been following Snow since her freshman year.
“Paityn Snow is a three-times Sierra Valley Conference MVP,” said Vitoria. “Her confidence, strength, and athletic ability on the volleyball court is beyond many of the athletes we have seen at Liberty Ranch high school. She has helped take our volleyball team to its farthest ever playoff ride in LR history. With all that said, Paityn Snow is by far one of the best female athletes Liberty Ranch has had the pleasure to have in its history thus far. I cannot wait to see what she does next.”
This season, Snow had 530 kills, 93 serving aces, 20 blocks and 469 digs.
Her career totals are 1,503 kills, 343 serving aces, 59 blocks and 1,319 digs.
Snow is considering her options and will continue her career to the next level after high school.
