GALT, CA (MPG) - The Hawk varsity basketball team played a very exciting game against the Futures from Sacramento on Dec. 6. The game was close with Futures on the Hawks’ tail the whole time. When the buzzer sounded it was a three-point win for the Hawks, 69-66.
Head Coach Phil Ricci knew it would be a competitive game.
“Futures is a very talented team,” said Ricci. “The game was very back and forth. I felt we had a chance to put them away a few times, but the Knights kept fighting all the way to the end. They are very well coached and they play very hard. I am proud of our guys and they’re showing maturity each and every game.”
Elliott Hawker was the high scorer with 26 points on the board. Kobe Aguillen and Wyatt Blevins each scored 10 points with Derek Nelson-8, Everett Dixon-7, and Jimmy Lopez-6.
Dixon snatched eight rebounds, while Lopez grabbed six. Elliott Hawker-5, Derek Nelson-5, Wyatt Blevins-4, Charles Mejia-2, and Kobe Aguillen-1.
The Hawks have a very busy weekend ahead, hosting a tournament, and they don’t start league play until Jan. 7.
