Dec 26, 2024 10:57AM ● By Sean P. Thomas, City EditorGALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees approved an agreement to select Rosa Loza as chief business official during its Dec. 19 board meeting.
According to the contract, Loza begins her new position on Jan. 13, and will earn $195,219 per year for the 2024-2025 school year. The salary will then be bumped to $201,076 for the 2025-2026 school year. The contract will expire on June 30, 2026.
“Ms. Loza has a proven track record of elevating performance and successfully leading turnaround initiatives in education settings,” said Superintendent Anna Trunnell. “Her analytical skills enable her to critically evaluate strategies and implement best practices for organizational growth.”
“I am confident that Ms. Loza will serve the students, staff families and Board of Education with experience and an eye for student success,” she said.
The district’s chief business official is generally responsible, under the direct supervision of the superintendent, with fiscal planning and management, such as payroll, purchasing, budgets, bonds and risk management.
According to Trunnell, Loza has 25 years in education. She began as a custodian before transitioning into administrative roles including lead payroll technician, payroll supervisor, accounting manager, director of finance and chief business official.
Area 2 Trustee Dennis Richardson was absent from the meeting.
Loza will replace Douglas Crancer, who will exit the position in January.
Trunnell fought back tears while thanking Crancer for his support as she settled in as the district’s superintendent.
“Douglas, thank you for all that you have done,” said Trunnell. “You have been my partner in crime just for a few months and thank you for your spirit, for being so open and giving me the opportunity to kind of bumble around and get a feel for this district.”
“I am going to miss you, but like everyone else said, you are not going to be far,” Trunnell said.
