GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt High School Warriors varsity boys basketball team played their first league game on Tuesday, Jan. 7 against the Rosemont Wolverines.
However, they were not able to break out of their rough patch as the team picked up their sixth straight loss.
They lost 62-41 to the Wolverines. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-13.
Coach Ron Earp must have been motivating in the locker room, because the boys came out and outscored Rosemont in the second half.  In the third quarter, Galt dropped 19 points compared to Rosemont’s nine. Joseph Gomez swished in three 3-pointers to help close the gap.
In the fourth quarter the Warriors scored nine points while the Wolverines dropped 11 and it just wasn’t enough to finish Rosemont off.
Sophomore Anthony Rose-Garcia, junior Joseph Gomez, and newcomer senior Jayden Gaither shared the high score honors, each scoring nine points.
Also on the score sheet, Carsan Cagle scored eight, Cooper Cagle-2 and Keving Lee-2.
Galt is scheduled to challenge Bradshaw Christian at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, after press time.
