Big Rig Shuts Down Northbound Traffic on Interstate 5

GALT, CA - A big rig carrying hair gel crashed near the Twin Cities Road onramp on Interstate 5 blocking northbound traffic for more than six hours on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, according to CHP. No other injuries were reported.
California Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene around 3 a.m., according to CHP incident logs. It is unclear why the big rig overturned. According to a CHP spokesperson, driver fatigue is believed to have played a factor in the crash.
The truck was carrying a variety of grocery store items, including meat and wine.
Caltrans was on scene to divert traffic off Twin Cities Road, but authorities reopened the northbound lanes around 9:20 a.m.
Drivers are asked to expect delays as debris was removed from the highway.
