GALT, CA (MPG) - The annual Galt Winter Bird Festival was held last week, bringing public awareness of conservation efforts for the region’s avian wildlife. 

The event is an important stop for many bird enthusiasts across the nation, providing a look at a diverse range of birds that stop at local habitats in the area, part of what is called the Pacific Flyway. 

The event was held at McCaffrey Middle School on Feb. 1, and in different nature preserves in the local area over the weekend. 

The event featured live presentations, workshops, art competitions and plenty of opportunities to learn fascinating facts about the local bird population and migration schedules.
