GALT, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch men’s soccer team marked a memorable senior night with an emphatic 16-0 victory over Argonaut, extending their remarkable winning streak to eight games. In a match that not only celebrated the contributions of their graduating seniors but also potentially set a new high score record, the Hawks dominated from start to finish in front of a jubilant home crowd.

Argonaut, facing challenges with a limited squad, brought only one substitute to the match. Despite the odds, they displayed commendable perseverance and played valiantly until the final whistle. Next year, they are set to merge with Amador, hoping for stronger seasons ahead.

Liberty Ranch’s head coach, Garett Arechiga, ensured that his team maintained a respectful approach throughout the lopsided contest. Demonstrating true sportsmanship, almost every Liberty Ranch player seized the opportunity to score, including standout performances across the roster and even two goals from goalie Raj Pillay, who thrilled the Hawks by scoring despite his usual defensive role.

“We are standing where we wanted to be at this time in the season,” Arechiga proudly noted. “It was a great game and all five of our graduating seniors had the opportunity to score, with senior EZ Duarte topping it off with a ‘hat trick’. We have a huge last game against Galt High and we are staying focused on that.”

Indeed, the Hawks’ seniors made their final regular season home game one to remember. EZ Duarte shone brightly with three goals, while Ivan Gonzalez, James Briggs, Raj Pillay, and Kyle Oltmanns each added two to the impressive tally. Contributions from Christian Maciel, Isaac Flores, Alan Montelongo, Beto Dominguez, and Luis Ortiz completed the scoring feast.

With this victory, Liberty Ranch solidifies their top position in the league, setting the stage for an eagerly anticipated clash against Galt on Feb. 10.
