GALT, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch Hawk girls’ basketball team delivered a stunning performance on Feb. 14 as they faced the host Warriors in their final home game of the season. With a commanding victory of 63-17, the Hawks solidified their position at the top of the league standings.
From the outset, it was clear that the Hawks were determined to finish strong. Junior Haley Smith led the charge, scoring 19 points and further extending her impressive school scoring record. Smith’s dynamic presence on the court was matched by her ability to control both ends of the game, contributing significantly to her team's success.
Madisyn Robbins and Kamrynn Blevins were also instrumental in the Hawks’ victory, each contributing 12 points. The Hawks’ balanced scoring attack continued with Kendall Duryee adding 6 points, Lexi Williams and Aneesa Barns each contributing 4, while Cruz Gregorio, Ella Garcia, and Summer McCoy chipped in with 2 points apiece.
Defensively, the Hawks did not let up, showcasing their versatility. Smith not only shined on offense but also grabbed 10 crucial rebounds. McCoy added 8 rebounds, while Blevins seized 5, Gregorio 4, and Robbins also contributed 4 rebounds, helping the Hawks dominate the boards.
For the Warriors, who struggled against the Hawks’ relentless defense, the scoring came mainly from their freshman players. Alexandra Gonzalez Landa was the top scorer with 7 points, followed by Allison Garcia with 6. Skyler Moore and junior Antanella Feilbach each managed to score 2 points. Despite their efforts, the Warriors were unable to find a rhythm throughout the game.
As the Hawks prepare for the playoffs as the number one seed, Hawk head coach Josh Williams expressed confidence in his team's readiness for the challenges ahead. "The ladies have worked hard all season, and they are prepared to face whatever comes their way in the playoffs," Williams said.
With their sights set on a championship, the Hawks will look to continue their momentum as they head into postseason play, fueled by their powerful performances and teamwork showcased throughout the season. The Warriors, meanwhile, will reflect on their season and look to build for the future, gaining valuable experience for their young team as they continue to build.
