GALT, CA (MPG) - The Warrior baseball team is swinging into action with a promising start to their season, evident in their impressive preseason performance. After dominating Florin with back-to-back victories—26-3 and 11-1—the Warriors appeared primed for success.
However, they encountered some challenges against Bret Harte and Cordova, suffering losses of 10-7 and 11-1, respectively.
As league play commenced, the Warriors sought to establish their footing, and they did just that in their opener against Rosemont, securing a solid 6-2 victory.
Nick Reid took the mound, showcasing his talent with a standout performance. Pitching 5.1 innings, Reid struck out nine batters, walked four, and allowed only five hits while limiting the opposition to just two runs. Gianni Sterni came in for relief, adding another 1.2 innings of solid pitching, giving up only one hit and one walk, while fanning one Rosemont batter.
Reid not only dazzled on the mound but also contributed to the scoreboard, crossing home plate twice for two runs. He was supported by a balanced offensive effort, with Anthony Trejo, James Gilbert, Cash Myrick, and Tyler Braun each added a run apiece to secure the victory.
Despite the setback against Bret Harte, in which the Warriors mounted a late rally, there were bright spots to build on. Trejo led the team with two runs scored, while Reid, Gilbert, Carlo Sterni, Gianni Sterni, and Braun each contributed to the team's total of seven runs.
The Warriors have shown resilience, bouncing back from tough losses and highlighting the depth of their lineup as they prepare to face off against Bradshaw the following week.
With their current momentum and solid performances, they are aiming to keep their winning streak alive and consolidate their standings in the league.
