GALT, CA (MPG) - In a remarkable debut season, Liberty Ranch High School's head boys’ basketball coach, Philip Ricci, has been honored as Coach of the Year by his peers in the league.
Ricci, who joined Liberty Ranch this year, expressed his gratitude for the award and emphasized that this achievement is a reflection of teamwork.

“It’s a great honor,” said Ricci. “I just have to give it up to my staff and the players because without them, there is no Coach of the Year.”

Ricci's coaching philosophy centers around creating a supportive and family-like environment. He attributed much of the team’s success to the dedication of his staff and the commitment of the players.

“I am grateful for all the support behind the scenes, from dinners on the road to the encouragement during practices. It truly feels like a family atmosphere here,” he stated.

Looking ahead, Ricci remains focused on the development of his players and the continuation of their growth as a team.

“I am looking forward to continuing to develop the kids so we can have a competitive year like we did this year. Like I said in the beginning of the year, it’s one day at a time—take it day by day and get better. Our goal is to end up in the final game,” he added.

Highlighting individual achievements, the season also saw two of Ricci's players, seniors Elliot Hawker and Wyatt Blevins, recognized as All-League players.

As the season wraps up, Coach Ricci’s first year at Liberty Ranch has laid a solid foundation for the basketball program’s future.

With a commitment to excellence and a focus on player development, the Liberty Ranch boys’ basketball team is poised for continued success in the seasons to come. Under Ricci's guidance, the Hawks are ready to soar even higher.
