GALT, CA (MPG) - The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Section Champion Liberty Ranch girls soccer team celebrated a successful season in style at their annual awards banquet this week. The event not only marked the culmination of their outstanding season but also honored the achievements of individual players who exemplified dedication, talent, and teamwork throughout the year.

The banquet celebrated both the JV and varsity teams. After JV received their recognition head varsity coach Rob Huarte praised the hard work and perseverance of the team, reflecting on their journey to capturing the championship title.

“This season has been one for the books,” Huarte said. “Each player contributed in their own unique way, and it's a privilege to coach such a special team.”

This year, the recognition of excellence extended beyond the team as four standout players were selected for the prestigious CIF All-League team. Congratulations were extended to Libby Portillo, Hailey Katen, Yoselin Del Toro, and Bailey Alcoriza for their remarkable performances that distinguished them among their peers. Their selection reflects not only their skill but also their commitment to the sport and their team.

During the banquet, several team awards were presented. Eliana Enriquez was awarded the title of Defensive Player of the Year, a testament to her exceptional skills and tireless efforts in protecting the team's goal. The award for Best Striker of the Year went to Serena Tarifa, whose offensive prowess kept opposing teams on their toes throughout the season.

Tarifa scored the one goal that locked up the Section Championship.  Additionally, Julianna Romero received the Coaches Award, recognizing her strong leadership qualities and positive spirit that uplifted the entire team.

As the evening progressed, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and heartfelt speeches from teammates reflecting on their shared experiences.

“We faced challenges, but through it all, we united as a family,” reflected team captain Portillo.  “Winning the championship was a dream come true, and these memories will last a lifetime.”

As the night concluded, family, friends and supporters celebrated not just a season of victories, but the bond and spirit that make Liberty Ranch girls soccer not simply a team, but a community.
