GALT, CA (MPG) - In an unforgettable season marked by resilience, teamwork and lasting achievements, the Galt High School girls’ soccer team has made history, celebrating its first-ever league title. Earlier this month, the community gathered to honor their journey, led by a remarkable group of athletes and their inspiring coach, Alejandro Renteria.

At the heart of the team’s success is senior goalie Kylee Chapman, who was voted league MVP by her fellow coaches. Chapman, who has been the backbone of the varsity lineup since her freshman year, has proved time and again to be an invaluable asset on the field.

“Kylee Chapman, our senior goalie and captain, earned the SVC MVP award for leading this team to its first-ever league title victory,” said a proud Coach Renteria. “Her talent, personality and tenacity pushed this team to another level. Having players like Kylee gives you the confidence that you can win any game simply because of her presence. It’s a deserved recognition for someone who is not just a great player but also a wonderful student, friend and teammate.”

In addition to Chapman’s MVP nod, Renteria was permitted to name six players to the SVC All-League team: Chapman, Morgan Erman, Monica Valencia, Bayley Miller, Shantiny Lemus and Emilyann Sheldon. Each player brought unique skills and contributions to the success of the team throughout the season.

Further accolades were handed out, recognizing the outstanding performances of several players. Defensive MVP honors went to Jennifer Arambula, who fortified the team’s backline with impressive skill and leadership. Miller earned the Offensive MVP title, having broken the record for most goals scored in a season at Galt High. Meanwhile, Sheldon was honored as the Team MVP, chosen for her tenacity and work ethic.

“These three girls were exceptional this year and were huge contributors to our success,” Renteria said. “Bayley is one of the best players in our league, and I’m excited to see what she achieves next year. Jennifer was a wall in defense, and as a sophomore, she has already demonstrated tremendous talent and soccer IQ. Emilyann’s work ethic and game understanding were the engines for our whole team; she gave us our identity.”

This season was particularly special for Renteria, who took on the challenge of coaching the girls’ team after years of success with the boys’ squad.

“A lot of people know I had success with the boys, but with the girls, I wanted to create a new culture and sense of pride,” he explained. “I remember being that young boy watching my brother play for Galt High and imagining how cool it was to represent your school. Having won the first-ever section championship in my senior year, I felt a strong responsibility to cultivate that legacy and pass it on.”

Renteria’s commitment to building a family environment within the team went beyond just soccer skills. He focused on instilling values of camaraderie, respect, and hard work.

“I wanted these girls to have the best experience here, just like I did as a player,” he shared. “Whether it was team-bonding activities, singing on bus rides home or spending time together, these moments build a program. Winning the league for the first time is amazing, but the connections we forged throughout the season are what I cherish most.”

As the echoes of victory reverberate through the campus of Galt High, it is clear that this season will be remembered not only for its historic achievements but also for the bond created among teammates. Renteria’s vision of creating a new legacy for Galt High School girls’ soccer has taken shape, inspiring current players and future generations alike. As the young athletes look ahead to next season, they carry with them the pride of their achievements and the hope of continuing the journey together.

The Galt High School girls’ soccer team not only wrote a new chapter in its school’s history but also instilled a sense of pride and inspiration among young fans and aspiring players watching from the bleachers. With the foundation laid and a strong community behind them, the future of Galt girls’ soccer looks incredibly bright.
