GALT, CA (MPG) - In a season filled with sweeping victories and significant milestones, the Liberty Ranch Hawks boys’ soccer team has etched its name in the annals of school history by sharing the league championship with Galt High and clinching the SVC section title: a feat they hadn’t accomplished in three years.
The triumphant season culminated in an end-of-year banquet where emotions ran high and triumphs were celebrated.
Head Coach Garett Arechiga led the Hawks with a steadfast belief in teamwork, emphasizing that the squad of 24 players was key to their success. Throughout the year, Arechiga consistently remarked on how each player played a significant role in the team’s achievements. At the end-of-year celebration, he took time to recognize and honor each member of the team, fostering a sense of unity and pride.
During the banquet, Arechiga announced his All-League selections, which included standout performances from senior Captain Ezekiel Duarte, sophomore Isaac Flores, junior Aiden Rivera, junior Captain Alan Montelongo, sophomore Christian Maciel and freshman Ivan Gonzalez. These players contributed vital goals and assists throughout the season and set an exemplary standard of leadership and sportsmanship, embodying the values that Arechiga instilled in the team.
In recognition of his dedication and leadership, Arechiga received the coveted Coach of the Year award from his fellow coaches. However, in true humble fashion, he redirected the praise to his players and the support system surrounding the team.
“This season was definitely a special one,” Arechiga remarked. “I feel this award should be called the ‘Program of the Year’ award because it was definitely a team effort. First and foremost, it’s all about the boys. Without them, this is nothing; they are the reason we work so hard.”
Arechiga was quick to acknowledge the contributions of his coaching staff: Coach Sergio Duarte and Coach Melvin Cruz have been integral to shaping the team’s direction and facilitating the players’ growth. Additionally, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to Marlene Pacheco, the team’s booster representative, whose unwavering support and organization helped to ensure a successful season.
“It takes a village,” Arechiga stated. “This season has been a testament to what can happen when you have amazing support behind the program. I can’t thank everyone enough.”
As the celebration concluded, the atmosphere was electric with anticipation for the future. With many key players just beginning their high school careers, including freshman Ivan Gonzalez and other underclassmen, there’s a strong sense of optimism about what next year holds. Arechiga is aware of the potential that lies within this young team and is excited to cultivate their talents further.
“The foundation we set this year is solid,” Arechiga said. “With youth comes tremendous potential, and I can’t wait to see how these boys develop and what they can accomplish next season.”
The Liberty Ranch Hawks have proven that teamwork, determination and strong community support are the cornerstones of success. As they look ahead, they carry with them not only the title of SVC section champions but also the valuable lessons and experiences that will guide them in the seasons to come.
