GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Warriors Track and Field team made a notable impact at the Delta College Track and Field Mustang Invitational, held Saturday, April 5 at Tokay High School in Lodi. Competing against a formidable lineup of 41 high schools, the Warriors demonstrated their skill and resilience, leaving their mark with impressive performances.
Head Coach Bruce Peterson expressed pride in his team’s efforts, noting that 18 Galt athletes participated in the event and collectively set a remarkable 20 new personal records (PRs) out of the 38 track and field events held. Additionally, the Warriors secured nine Top 10 finishes, showcasing their growing talent and teamwork.
Among the standout performers was freshman MC Azubuike, who captured a commendable second place in the Frosh/Soph High Jump with a leap of 5 feet 6 inches.
Sophomore Morgan Jones also shone brightly, earning third in the Varsity High Jump at 4 feet 6 inches while finishing eighth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.86 seconds.

Coach Peterson was impressed with the competitive atmosphere of the meet.
“This particular meet is put on by Delta College and always has great competition,” he remarked. “It was a good showing for our team in a very competitive environment, which helps our young squad. We didn’t take many athletes to this meet due to another school engagement, but the number of personal records speaks to the hard work and dedication of our athletes. It’s gratifying to see them succeed and improve.”
The Galt Warriors will look to build on this success as they continue their season, aiming for further personal bests and strong performances in upcoming competitions.
