City Seeks Input on Park Naming

GALT, CA (MPG) - As Galt continues to expand its residential neighborhoods, the city is inviting residents to help name new parks planned in the Liberty Ranch and Elliott Ranch subdivisions.
The Galt Parks and Recreation Department is accepting park name submissions through Wednesday, May 7 at 5 p.m. Submissions must follow the city’s official naming policy, which considers geographic relevance, historical significance and community impact.
Liberty Ranch is one of Galt’s largest master-planned developments, covering approximately 150 acres. It includes plans for more than 1,400 homes, multiple parks and expansive open spaces.
Located near Liberty Ranch High School and McCaffrey Middle School, the neighborhood continues to grow with a variety of housing and recreational amenities.

Elliott Ranch, previously referred to as Simmerhorn Ranch, will add 429 single-family homes along with land reserved for a park and a future elementary school. The subdivision is being developed as part of Galt’s long-term strategy to accommodate new residents while expanding public facilities.
Eligible park name submissions must reflect nearby geographic features, honor individuals or events of historical significance, or recognize people or organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the Galt community, especially related to parks and recreation.
Only submissions that meet the city’s criteria will be considered. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact the Galt Parks and Recreation Department at (209) 366-7180.

The city of Galt is looking for an adult mentor to help serve on the Galt Youth Commission.

Galt youth commissioners work alongside city departments, businesses and nonprofits to advocate and create programs for teenagers in the Galt area. The opportunity also helps teens become engaged in their local community.
The adult mentor guides and supports the five commissioners as they work to implement teen programs throughout the city.
As of press time there are four commissioners on the body, with a candidate for the fifth slot currently being interviewed.
Applicants must be registered voters and live within the Galt Joint Union High School District’s jurisdiction.
Applications are due to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. Monday, May 5.
The term would wrap up in December 2026.
The commission meets on the first Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

Galt Invites Public to Submit Military Photos for Parade Float Tribute
The City of Galt is asking residents to help honor U.S. military service members by submitting photographs for a tribute float being created by the Galt Parks & Recreation Department.
According to the city, the float will feature a visual display of military personnel, both past and present, from all branches of the armed forces. The project is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to honor military heroes through community engagement and intended to recognize the bravery and dedication of those who have served.
Photos must be high-resolution and either 5x7 or 8x10 inches. Submissions are limited to the first 200 entries.
