LODI, CA (MPG) - Last month, the Galt-Lodi-Stockton Chapter of the A-Z Foundation hosted its annual fundraiser dinner at Hutchins Street Square, and the event was a resounding success. With around 320 attendees filling the banquet hall, it was clear that the community’s support for veterans runs deep. As joy and camaraderie filled the air, the atmosphere was electric with excitement.

Chairman Joyce Horrocks reflects on the evening, her voice filled with gratitude and enthusiasm.
“This year, we sold out within the first three months,” she announced, beaming with pride. “It’s a wonderful feeling to see our community come together for such an important cause. Our event keeps getting bigger, and it’s a testament to the support we have.”

The evening not only raised thousands of dollars for veterans’ organizations in Lodi, Stockton and Galt, but it also featured a treasure trove of giveaways, including rifles and various outdoor gear.

“Every dollar we raise supports our veterans, and we’re proud to give back 25% of everything raised directly to our community,” Horrocks explained. “We’ve helped various groups like the Historical Society, L’Chayim and the Galt Youth Commission."

Horrocks reflected on the network of A-Z Foundation chapters across California, from Lake Isabella to Bakersfield and from Napa to Paso Robles.

“Each chapter is dedicated to raising funds specifically for veterans,” she stated. “Last year, we had 90 veterans from our Galt and Lodi chapters go on a deep-sea fishing trip, all expenses paid. Moments like that highlight the importance of our mission.”

Horricks says the organization has three fishing trips set for July, August and October at locations including Morro Bay, Monterey and Bodega Bay.

“It’s first-come, first-serve, so if you know a veteran who deserves a day out on the water, have them reach out to me,” she encouraged.

In addition to fishing trips, the foundation also offers scholarships for students, drawing parallels to the spirit of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. With determination in her voice, Horrocks shared,
“If a veteran has a terminal illness and a wish, we do everything we can to make that wish a reality. Last year, we sent a family to Disney World for five unforgettable days. That’s the kind of joy we want to spread.”

The support from local businesses has been instrumental in advancing their mission.

“We are truly grateful for Mach One Towing, Galt Rock and Asphalt, and the Glass Shop,” Joyce said. “Their unwavering support helps us tremendously, and we encourage all veterans to join the American Legion. It has opened many doors for us and helped connect veterans to the A-Z Foundation.”

As the night drew to a close, and participants left the event with smiles and newfound connections, Horrocks reflected on the growth of the foundation.

“Every year, our dinners get bigger and better. People are finally realizing what the A-Z Foundation is all about, and we are excited to continue this journey with our community.”
“Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our veterans,” she concluded.
