GALT, CA (MPG) - Last week, Galt High School and Liberty Ranch High School showcased their talent and determination at the Sierra Valley Conference (SVC) Track and Field League Championships. Despite the scorching conditions, both schools delivered impressive performances, and several standout athletes secured spots at the upcoming Section Finals.

Galt High head coach Bruce Peterson praised his athletes for their resilience, saying, “The kids did really well in hot conditions.” The Warriors are proud to announce that six of their athletes would advance to the CIFSJS Division 4/5 Section Finals, scheduled for May 14-15 at Riverbank High School in Riverbank.

To earn the prestigious all-league patch in track and field, athletes must clinch first place in their events against competitors from all schools in the league. Both Galt and Liberty Ranch garnered numerous all-league honors, showcasing the depth of talent on their rosters.

For Galt, notable finishes included:
Kitto Gonzalez: Dominated the 1600m and 3200m races, finishing first in both and contributing to a first-place final result in the 4x800m relay.

Logan Rose: Finished fourth in the 1600m, second in the 3200m and was part of the first-place 4x800m relay team.

Emilyann Sheldon: Finished strong with fourth place in the 1600m and second in the 3200m.
Morgan Jones: Racked up a third place in both the 100m hurdles and high jump.

On the Liberty Ranch side, several athletes delivered remarkable results:

Jimmy Lopez: Secured victory in pole vault, setting a high bar for future athletes.

A strong contingent also showed up in the 300m hurdles with Larry Lucas (2nd), George Adrian (3rd), and Jose Lara III (4th) contributing to the success.

Liberty Ranch head coach MarQuan De Bise expressed bittersweet sentiments, noting the challenges of saying goodbye to many talented seniors.

“We had a lot of seniors this year,” she said. “Many are going off to college and some are entering the workforce. I couldn’t be prouder of all they have accomplished and all they will accomplish. The future is bright.”

As these athletes prepare to embark on their next adventures, several Hawk seniors announced their plans:
Camren Hudson will attend Alabama A&E;

George Adrian III and Jennaveve Lara will enroll at Sacramento City College;

Other notable college commitments include Larry Lucas to UCLA and Joseph Brown to Northern Arizona University.

With Galt and Liberty Ranch athletes wrapping up their seasons, track and field enthusiasts eagerly await the Section Finals, hopeful for continued success and accolades for these determined young athletes.

The legacy of hard work and dedication displayed at the SVC Championships will undoubtedly pave the way for more remarkable achievements in their futures.
