GALT, CA (MPG) - After a thrilling and successful season, the Liberty Ranch girls’ stunt team made a remarkable journey through the postseason, culminating in a spirited semifinal appearance at the Section Playoffs. This year’s competition saw teams divided into two divisions, and the Hawks showcased their prowess as they fiercely battled in Division 2.

The journey to the semifinals was nothing short of exhilarating. It began on a high note at their home turf, where Liberty Ranch faced off against River Valley High School and decisively triumphed with a commanding score of 15 to 1. With confidence soaring, the Hawks then headed to the Galt High School gym for their next challenge against Lodi High School, where they dominated the field, winning 14 to 3. 

Seated as the fourth seed in the playoffs, the Hawks were determined to make a mark. Their semifinal showdown against Twelve Bridges High School, however, proved a formidable challenge. Despite giving their all, Liberty Ranch fell short, ending the game with a final score of 15 to 8. Twelve Bridges would go on to face Roseville, ultimately securing their spot as section champions with a 15 to 11 victory against Roseville. Both Twelve Bridges and Roseville headed to the state championships, where Twelve Bridges actually proved to be the best in the state as they won it all. 

As the final whistle blew in the semifinal match, the atmosphere was heavy with emotion. Tears flowed and hugs were exchanged as the girls came to grips with the conclusion of their season: a poignant moment amplified by the impending graduation of their four seniors. 

The reality that this chapter was closing was palpable, yet there was a sense of accomplishment in the air. Coach Barbara Welch emphasized the strength of the team moving forward, stating, “With only four seniors leaving us, we have a fantastic group of girls set to step up next year. The future looks bright for Liberty Ranch.”

Welch’s pride in her team radiated as she reflected on their journey. 

“I’m incredibly proud of the girls for making it this far in the section playoffs,” Welch said. “Each week, we improved and refined our skills. They executed every move and nailed each stunt with grace and precision. Their hard work and dedication truly paid off, and it was a joy to watch.”

The Hawks’ journey, though culminating in bittersweet farewells, is a tale of resilience and growth. With a legacy built on hard work, the team will undoubtedly return stronger, poised for a new season filled with promise under Welch’s guidance.
