ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The Galt High and Liberty Ranch swim teams concluded their competitive seasons at the Sierra Valley Swim Conference Championships in Elk Grove. Despite both teams being comparatively small this year, their dedication and hard work were evident as they took to the water.

While the limited number of swimmers impacted the total points scored—due to the inability to compete in every event—the commitment shown in practice at the Agora Aquatic Center paid off. Coaches and teammates recognized that sometimes the meet comes down to sheer numbers, but this season saw both teams achieve notable successes with their fast swimmers.

As the teams prepared to transition to graduation or summer activities, a few standout athletes were able to earn spots in the upcoming sections and masters’ tournaments. Detailed results from the event showcased the talent of these young swimmers.

In the girls' events, the Galt High relay team composed of Madison McDonald, Kinley Schlesinger, Courtney Brouwer and Maggie Thomlinson finished impressively in third place out of seven teams during the 200-Yard Medley relay. Meanwhile, the Liberty Ranch team, featuring Arianna Kotko, Isabella Westlynn, Ainsley Robbins and Haley Andrews, claimed fifth place.

The boys’ 200-Yard Medley relay featured Liberty Ranch’s team of Adam Behrmann, Jackson Lagana, Mason Bussman and Flynn Rausser, which secured third out of six, while Galt’s boys—Jayden Tackett, Mateo Beas, Tiger Myrick and Bowden Beck—came in fifth place.

Individually, Galt’s Courtney Brouwer shone brightly, with first place in both the girls’ 200 Individual Medley (IM) and securing the all-league title. The sophomore also dominated in the 100-yard freestyle, earning another top finish.

A fellow Warrior, freshman Tiger Myrick, exhibited his talent by finishing third in both the 200 IM and the 500-yard freestyle.

In the Liberty Ranch ranks, Flynn Rausser’s second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle stood out, along with teammate Jackson Lagana, who took second in the boys’ 50-yard freestyle. Another notable performance came from Galt’s Madison McDonald, who placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Galt boys relay team—Jayden Tackett, Mateo Beas, Tiger Myrick and Bowden Beck—impressed with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. The Galt girls’ relay team also shone, finishing second in the competitive 400-yard freestyle relay, while Liberty Ranch’s boys, consisting of Behrmann, Lagana, Rausser and Bussman, likewise secured second in the boys' 400-yard freestyle relay.

One of the standout performances of the day came from Liberty Ranch’s Mason Bussman, who not only earned first place in the boys’ 100-yard freestyle but also triumphed in the grueling 500-yard freestyle.

When it came to overall team standings, Galt’s girls placed fourth, with Liberty Ranch not far behind in fifth out of seven competing teams. On the boys’ side, Liberty Ranch finished strong in third, while Galt took fifth place.

As the dust settles on a long season filled with hard work and determination, both teams can hold their heads high. The results at the Sierra Valley Swim Conference Championships exemplified the spirit and capabilities of these young swimmers, setting a positive tone for future seasons. We look forward to following the progress of the athletes who will advance to sections and the master’s tournament, promising more exciting outcomes ahead.
