GALT, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch Hawk baseball team capped off its regular season in impressive fashion on Senior Night, taking on crosstown rivals the Galt High School Warriors. The atmosphere was electric as parents escorted seniors to the third-base line, where heartfelt tributes flowed amid the cheers of friends and family. The players expressed gratitude to those who had supported them throughout their journey and shared aspirations for the future.

“Tonight was about more than just baseball,” shared senior Kade Lecompte. “It was a moment to reflect on everything we’ve accomplished and the people who have helped us along the way. We’re grateful for our friends, family and coaches.”

As the game unfolded, Galt High School struck first in the second inning, making for an exciting encounter. However, the Hawks quickly responded with remarkable tenacity.

Four runners crossed home plate in the bottom of the third, leaving the score at 4-1 and showcasing the Hawks’ resilient spirit. From that point on, Galt would struggle to keep pace, while Liberty Ranch continued to add to its score, finishing the game with a decisive 7-1 victory.

Lecompte shone brightly on the mound, pitching five strong innings, allowing only two hits and one run, while walking two batters. His dominance was reflected in his impressive strikeout tally of ten.

Cole Erias took over pitching duties for the final two innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three batters to close out the game. Offensively, he contributed as well with a hit and a run. Other notable performances included Hunter Adversalo, who had one hit and two RBIs, and Mario Rubalcava, who managed two hits and two runs.

For the Warriors, Anthony Garcia pitched 4.2 innings, surrendering seven hits and six runs while striking out five. Senior Gianni Sterni closed out his high school career on the mound, pitching the last 1.1 innings and allowing three hits and two runs. Despite the loss, senior Nick Reid managed to score the only run for Galt, embodying the determination of his team.

After a successful regular season finishing second in league with a record of 12-2 and an overall mark of 19-8, the Hawks advanced to the playoffs, where they faced Escalon. They narrowly won 8-7 in an exhilarating game that showcased their resilience. Unfortunately, their journey ended in the quarterfinals against the top-seeded Lincoln team, where they fell 5-2.

Reflecting on the season, Liberty Ranch Head Coach Jason Adversalo praised his team’s hard work and improvement throughout the year.

“It was a really good season. The boys put in a lot of effort and showed tremendous growth,” he said. “With five seniors leaving, we know that we’ll have some gaps to fill, but I’m confident that we have junior varsity players who are more than ready to step up into the varsity lineup.”

Adversalo also highlighted the values instilled within the program, emphasizing that baseball is only part of the equation.

The Hawks have engaged in various extracurricular activities, including mentoring special-needs kids through baseball.

“My main goal and the other coaches’ is for the boys to know it’s not just about baseball; our goal is to make better people,” he stated. “We want everyone on our team to be an upstanding, contributing citizen. Those lessons extend beyond the diamond.”

As the Liberty Ranch Hawks turn their focus to future seasons, under the leadership of Coach Adversalo, they carry forward a commitment to excellence in baseball and personal development, fostering a legacy that will benefit players for years to come.
