GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Warriors softball team wrapped up its season with an end-of-year banquet, recognizing the outstanding performances of its players despite a challenging season.

Head Coach Mikka Alvarez announced the selection of sophomore Rianna Mayer to the all-league team, cementing her status as one of the standout athletes in the program.

The Warriors faced a tough competition in the league, finishing in seventh place out of eight teams with a record of two wins and 12 losses. However, individual performances shone brightly during the season, especially that of Mayer, who emerged as a key player for the Warriors. 

Mayer led the team with an impressive batting average of .328, boasting 22 hits and claiming the title for most home runs with two. Her speed on the base paths was evident as she recorded the second most stolen bases and showcased her defensive skills with the second-best fielding percentage of .936. In addition, Mayer topped the team in triples and recorded the highest slugging percentage at .567, earning her well-deserved recognition as the team's MVP.

In addition to Mayer's accolades, several other players were honored for their contributions throughout the season. Senior Rachael Parkinson was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year, highlighting her impressive skills on the field. Classmate Lexi Maldonado earned the title of Offensive Player of the Year and was also named to the Optimist All-Star Team, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the team’s offensive efforts. Senior Emily Clark rounded out the awards by winning the prestigious Warrior Award, a testament to her relentless spirit and commitment to the team.

While the team’s overall placement may not have reflected its potential, the banquet highlighted the hard work and determination displayed by the players throughout the season. With the recognition of these outstanding athletes, the Galt Warriors look forward to building on their experiences in the upcoming season.
