GALT, CA (MPG) - In a year marked by changes to the all-league selection process, Galt High School senior Nick Reid emerged as the Warriors’ sole representative on the all-league team, despite the league’s expansion to include two additional teams. The modified CIF criteria resulted in fewer selections per team, making Reid’s achievement even more noteworthy.

Reid’s stellar performance on the mound and at the plate proved instrumental for the Warriors this season. Over 41.1 innings pitched, he dominated opposing batters with 42 strikeouts while allowing just one home run. His offensive contributions were equally impressive, posting a solid .308 batting average across 13 games.

“Being named all-league means everything to me,” Reid reflected, a smile crossing his face. “But that moment when we scored first against Liberty Ranch? That’s the memory I’ll carry with me forever.”

At the end-of-season banquet, Head Coach Mike Tassano couldn’t contain his pride as he addressed his players. 

“Baseball isn’t just about wins and losses,” Tassano said, his voice filled with emotion. “It’s about showing up every day, ready to compete, ready to grow. These young men exemplified that spirit. They never backed down, never made excuses and, most importantly, they stayed together as a team through every challenge. That’s what builds character, and that’s what makes me proud to be their coach.”

The evening featured several team awards, with Carlo Sterni earning Rookie of the Year honors, Reid claiming the Cy Young Award, Michael Perucca and Tyler Braun sharing Defensive Player of the Year, and Gianni Sterni taking home MVP honors for the varsity squad.

The JV team’s future looks bright with Art Cordova receiving Most Improved Player, Leland Reames earning the Coaches Award and Trent Dozier securing the JV MVP award.
