GALT, CA (MPG) - In a high school career marked by record-breaking performances and unwavering leadership, Liberty Ranch High School’s Paityn Snow has been named the Female Athlete of the Year, cementing her legacy as one of the most accomplished athletes in school history.
Snow, a four-year varsity standout in both volleyball and softball, has dominated the local sports scene with her exceptional talent and team-first mentality. Her most impressive achievement may be capturing the League MVP award in volleyball for three consecutive years, an unprecedented feat in Liberty Ranch’s athletic program.
“The achievement that I am most proud of is getting League MVP three years in a row for volleyball,” Snow said in an exclusive interview. “It represents all the hard work and dedication I’ve put into the sport.”
Snow’s volleyball prowess is well-documented in the school record books. She holds the records for most kills in a single season and career, along with the school record for service aces. These statistical achievements helped earn her All-League honors in volleyball all four years of her high school career, complemented by two years of All-League recognition in softball.
Her athletic journey began by following in her sisters’ footsteps.
“I got into both volleyball and softball because of my older sisters,” Snow explained. “They all played both sports, and I fell in love with it just by watching them play.”
That early passion blossomed into exceptional talent when she made the varsity volleyball team as a freshman. “That was when I realized I could excel and play at the college level,” she recalled.
Beyond her individual accolades, Snow’s leadership qualities have been instrumental to her teams’ success. Teammates routinely looked to her for guidance during crucial moments.
“I believe that on the court I am a great leader,” Snow said. “A lot of the time, the team depended on me for knowing the right thing to say, or for picking them up when they were down.”
Her mental approach to competition reveals a maturity beyond her years.
“One way that I handle pressure is just by controlling my breathing and my mindset,” she explained. “I will always just tell myself things like ‘You’ve got this’ or ‘You’re gonna pass this ball’ to keep bad thoughts from entering my mind.”
Snow’s most cherished memory came during the sectional semifinal volleyball match against Hilmar, when Liberty Ranch earned a berth in the Section Championship.
“The stands were filled with people, and all of us were having so much fun,” she reminisced. “There was nothing more we all wanted in that moment, and it was especially amazing because we weren’t playing worried, we were just having fun, which is what it’s all about.”
Her athletic career won’t end with high school graduation. Snow will continue her volleyball journey at Cosumnes River College next fall.
“Next year, I am playing at Cosumnes River College on the volleyball team, and I am so excited to have that experience. Go Hawks!” she said enthusiastically.
As she prepares for this next chapter, Snow remains grateful to those who supported her remarkable high school career.
“I would like to thank my parents for always pushing me to be my best and my sisters for always showing me the ropes and introducing me to these sports,” she said. “I would like to thank all of my family and friends who came to my games and always made sure I had a huge crowd cheering me on. I couldn’t have made it this far without all of you!”
Liberty Ranch’s coaching staff also played a pivotal role in her development.
“I owe my whole career to every coach I had,” Snow acknowledged. “Whether they helped me with skill or mindset, they taught me everything I know, and I wouldn’t be where I am without them.”
As Snow graduates and moves on to collegiate competition, she leaves behind a legacy of excellence, sportsmanship and leadership that Liberty Ranch athletes will aspire to emulate for years to come.
