GALT, CA (MPG) - National Night Out, held annually on the first Tuesday in August, is a nationwide event that brings neighbors and law enforcement together to promote community safety and unity.
Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, this evening aims to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention while strengthening the bond between residents and public safety agencies.
National Night Out is dedicated to strengthening police-community partnerships and building a safer, more connected Galt. From 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 5, there will be block parties at parks throughout the city where residents can attend and celebrate with neighbors.
“This event straightens our bonds with the community with a lot of things going on in the world,” said Galt Police Community Service Officer Julio Roque. “This helps us show them that we are human, too, and we like to have fun and we love throwing events for everyone to attend.”
The three parks are Galt Community Park at 1000 Walnut Ave., Meadowview Park at 1128 Meadowview Drive and the sports complex at 1022 Caroline Ave. Each location will have separate giveaways of new televisions.

National Night Out goes from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 5 at three different parks: Galt Community Park (1000 Walnut Ave.), Meadowview Park (1128 Meadowview Drive) and the sports complex at 1022 Caroline Ave.
The event at the sports complex will give away a 65-inch 4K television and the events at Meadowview Park and at Galt Community Park will give away a 55-inch 4K television each. There will also be free food and snacks, including tacos, hot dogs and churros.
Residents can connect one-on-one with the police department, its special divisions and administration as well as the canine unit.
No purchase is required to enter the giveaways. To participate, residents are asked to show up and pick up a free raffle ticket for a chance to win.
“It’s always nice when we put a smile on people’s faces and it’s always great when we get kids coming up to us and say, ‘I want to be a police officer when I grow up.’ It’s a great event. I hope to see all of you there,” said Roque.
The city of Galt is seeking community support to help fund these events; donations will help make Galt’s National Night Out a memorable event.
To donate via cash or check, schedule a pickup by emailing Roque at [email protected] or calling/texting 209-744-6533. For more information, visit online nnogalt.org.
