ESCALON, CA (MPG) - Despite facing triple-digit temperatures, the Galt Jr. Warriors made a strong showing at the season-opening jamboree in Escalon with solid performances on both offense and defense against teams like the Escalon Youth Cougars, the Riverbank Outlaws and the Waterford Sabercats. The team demonstrated clear promise for the season ahead, with coaches and players alike battling through the extreme heat while showcasing not only skill but resilience: a clear sign that the Jr. Warriors are ready to compete.
“What I saw out there in that heat was exactly what we’ve been building toward,” said Jr. Warriors President Noel Campos. “Our kids didn’t just endure those triple-digit temperatures; they thrived in them. That kind of mental toughness and determination is what separates good teams from great teams, and it tells me everything I need to know about the character of these young Warriors.”
The impressive jamboree performance comes as the Jr. Warriors program continues to experience significant growth. This season, the organization boasts four football teams and four cheerleading squads across Junior Novice, Novice, Junior Varsity and Varsity divisions, with approximately 110 kids playing football and 40 participating in cheer, representing a notable increase from last season’s numbers.
“The growth we’re seeing isn’t just about numbers on a roster,” Campos emphasized. “We’re building something special here in Galt. When I see 150 kids choosing to be part of the Jr. Warriors family, supported by 30 dedicated coaches and board members plus countless parent volunteers, I know we’re creating an environment where young people want to be. That’s the foundation of championship programs.”
But for Campos and the Jr. Warriors organization, success extends far beyond the football field and sidelines.
“We’re not just trying to build better athletes on the field; we’re committed to building better humans off of it,” Campos stated passionately. “This program is deeply rooted in community service and giving back. When there’s a call for help in our community, you can absolutely count on the Jr. Warriors to answer that call. We’re teaching these kids that being a Warrior means standing up for others and making a difference in the lives of people around you.”
The extensive volunteer network supporting the program includes not only the 30 football and cheer coaches and board members, but also numerous parent volunteers who help operate the snack bar and coordinate home game activities, creating a true community atmosphere.
“The volunteer spirit we have here is absolutely incredible,” Campos noted. “From our coaching staff who pour their hearts into developing these kids, to the parents running our snack bar and making game day special for everyone, this is what youth sports should look like. It’s a community coming together to invest in the next generation.”
Looking ahead to the regular season, the Jr. Warriors will face their first test on Saturday, Aug. 16, when they travel to take on the Amador Jr. Buffalos. The home opener is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 23 at Warrior Stadium, where they’ll host the Argonaut Mustangs.
“I can’t wait for our community to see what we’ve built here,” Campos said with evident pride. “Aug. 23rd at Warrior Stadium is going to be special. After what I witnessed at that jamboree – the heart, the determination, the way our kids supported each other through that brutal heat – I know our fans are in for something extraordinary. These Jr. Warriors are ready to show everyone what Galt football is all about.”
With strong early performances, growing participation numbers, and a commitment to community service, the Galt Jr. Warriors appear poised for an exciting and successful season.
