GALT, CA (MPG) - The City of Galt’s Commission on Aging is introducing new programs for senior residents.

Starting with a health-focused initiative, the commission will host “Seniors Walk in the Park” twice a month. The upcoming walk will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The walk will be held at Walker Park, 13665 Sargent Ave, and will be meeting at the pavilion.

Residents are encouraged to join fellow seniors for a stroll and a chance to connect with others in the community.

The Commission on Aging is also launching “Meet with a Commissioner,” an opportunity for seniors or other community members to speak in-person with a commission member.

This program allows residents to share ideas, concerns or suggestions on how to better support and improve the lives of older adults in Galt.

The commission also works to advocate for local seniors by assisting with resources and providing guidance to those in need.

Beginning in August, “Meet with a Commissioner” will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Senior Resource Center, 600 Chabolla Ave.

The Commission on Aging meets at 10 a.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month. Meetings are held in the conference room at the Galt Parks and Recreation Building, located at 610 Chabolla Ave. The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 21.
