GALT, CA (MPG) - The Soroptimist International of Sacramento South Club will host its fourth Sip, Paint & Give Back fundraiser event on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Valley Oaks Grange Hall to benefit local programs providing scholarships for local young women.

The afternoon event will include a raffle featuring See’s Candies and s’mores kit baskets, a Halloween basket with a candy dish among other prize baskets.

There will be wine and a guided painting session with instruction from local artist Beth Bates. Both beginners and seasoned painters are welcome to participate in recreating a rustic barn scene with flowers.

 

The Soroptimist International of Sacramento South Club has supported women and girls locally since 1965 by providing resources, such as scholarships, and empowerment through community support. 

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who supports our Soroptimist group, whether through fundraisers, donations or simply spreading the word,” said Kimberly Kulp, a Soroptimist Sacramento South Club member. “Your generosity provides us with the resources we need to empower and uplift women and girls in our community.”

Proceeds will go toward supporting homeless and at-risk students, the Live Your Dream Awards scholarship program to emancipated foster youth at Sacramento City College and other resources such as CASH (Community Against Sexual Harm).

“Our goal is to empower girls and women in need. We believe education creates freedom, so much of our focus is on funding educational opportunities. We also hope to provide support with trade specialties, such as covering testing fees, to help young women establish independence and income,” Kulp said.

The fundraiser begins at 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Valley Oaks Grange Hall, 347 Fifth St. Tickets are $55 and available by check payable to Soroptimist International of Sacramento South (6151 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento) or on Venmo to @Kimberley-SwensonKulp. Payments should include the buyer’s name and number of tickets.

Registration and payment are due by Sept. 6.

Soroptimist International clubs’ mission is to improve the lives of women and girls locally and throughout the world. Soroptimist International of Sacramento South Club has supported women and girls in the community since 1965. It has members from various Sacramento County areas, including Galt, Pocket, Midtown, Oak Park and Fair Oaks.
