GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Warriors faced a tough night under the lights during their homecoming game, falling to a strong Rosemont squad 38-0. Despite the lopsided score, head coach JJ Woodward found reasons to praise his team’s effort and named junior Anthony Trejo as his player of the week.

Trejo, who had four tackles, two assists and a crucial fumble recovery, exemplified the fighting spirit Woodward saw from his Warriors throughout the contest.

“We came out playing hard,” Woodward said after the game. “Our line was doing a great job controlling the line of scrimmage and our players played hard. Some things didn’t go our way, however, and Rosemont is a really good team who took advantage of some of our mistakes. I’m proud of my guys and we will bounce back.”

While individual statistics from the Rosemont game were not available at press time, the Warriors showed promise in their previous outing against Bradshaw Christian. Junior quarterback Robert Rubio completed six of 18 passes for 96 yards, while senior receiver Anthony Harrison hauled in four catches for 79 yards, including a 38-yard reception.

On the ground, senior Tucker Alexander provided a spark with 23 yards on two carries, including a 19-yard run. Senior Nick Pena added 17 yards on four attempts with a long of 14 yards.

Defensively, the Warriors were led by senior Aaron Ramos, who recorded three solo tackles in the Bradshaw game. The defensive effort also featured contributions from junior James Gilbert with two solo tackles and several players chipping in with assists.

The Warriors will look to regroup and build on the positives as they prepare for their next contest, with Coach Woodward’s confidence in his team’s resilience serving as motivation moving forward.
