GALT, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch JV Hawks secured a hard-fought 12-0 homecoming victory over the Argonaut Mustangs, but the final score didn’t reflect just how competitive this defensive battle truly was.

In a game that showcased gritty determination over offensive fireworks, both teams struggled to find the end zone throughout much of the contest. The Hawks managed to break through in the second quarter for their first score, taking a 6-0 lead into halftime after a failed extra-point attempt.

The Mustangs refused to fold, mounting several threatening drives that had Hawks fans holding their breath. Argonaut’s offense moved the ball effectively at times, reaching the red zone on multiple occasions only to be turned away by a stingy Liberty Ranch defense that bent but didn’t break when it mattered most.

“They kept coming at us,” said one Hawks player after the game. “We knew we had to stay focused because they were right there every time.”

The tension in the stadium was palpable as the game entered the fourth quarter with Liberty Ranch clinging to its slim six-point advantage.

With time winding down and the Mustangs still very much in the game, the Hawks finally delivered the knockout punch. Late in the fourth quarter, Liberty Ranch found the end zone for the second and final time, extending its lead to 12-0 and effectively sealing the victory.

A 12-0 shutout victory on homecoming night provided a perfect complement to the varsity team’s explosive performance earlier in the week.
