GALT, CA (MPG) - The City of Galt announced via social media on Oct. 13 that its Public Works Department has begun the design phase for a new deep well at the Carillion Well site, located at 1018 Di Maggio Way.

As part of the project, a test well will be constructed to collect groundwater data. Construction of the test well is scheduled to begin next week and is expected to be completed by the end of December.

Work will generally take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. However, due to the specialized nature of drilling and well development, some operations will run continuously, requiring 24-hour activity, to ensure proper well construction and accurate data collection.

Tentative dates for 24-hour operations are Oct. 21 through Nov. 4 and Nov. 17 through Dec. 5. During these times, nearby residents may notice temporary noise from equipment and support vehicles, nighttime construction lighting and increased truck traffic. The city stated that reasonable steps will be taken to minimize impacts to residents.

The city also noted that the schedule is subject to change based on field conditions, equipment availability and weather. Any major updates will be communicated to residents as soon as possible.
