Hawks Dominate Senior Night with 46-14 Victory Over El Dorado

GALT, CA (MPG) - Liberty Ranch celebrated Senior Night in style, overwhelming El Dorado 46-14 behind a dominant ground game that accumulated 551 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Junior Wyatt Corriea set the pace with a spectacular performance, rushing for 291 yards on just 12 carries: an average of 24.3 yards per carry. His longest run went for 86 yards, marking the team’s lone 100+ yard rushing performance of the night. Corriea found the end zone three times, leading all scorers with 18 points.

“We are proud of the way our team started fast and executed well on both sides of the ball,” said Head Coach Warren Schroeder. “We know we are facing a big test this week and will practice hard to get ready for it,” referring to the upcoming matchup against Bradshaw Christian.

Junior quarterback Ryan Ogas complemented Corriea’s effort with 94 yards on six carries, including two rushing touchdowns. His 37-yard-long run helped establish the Hawks’ early dominance. Junior Joe Lara added 86 yards on 12 carries with a long of 34 yards, while junior Andrew Quinn contributed 65 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown.

Senior James Rangel capped off his Senior Night celebration with 13 yards rushing and one touchdown, while also handling kicking duties with four successful extra points on six attempts.

While the ground game dominated, the Hawks showed efficiency through the air when needed. Ogas completed two of five passes for 17 yards, while junior Nick Pierce was perfect on his lone attempt, connecting for 30 yards. Senior Landon Peterson hauled in a 30-yard reception, while Lara caught a 10-yard pass and Corriea added a seven-yard reception to his impressive stat line.

The Hawks’ defense was equally impressive, forcing two interceptions and recovering one fumble. Lara led the defensive effort with six tackles (five solo, one assist) and one interception while also contributing three pass deflections. Senior Eston Tucker added the second interception and recorded five tackles.

Senior Daniel Sosa made his presence felt with three solo tackles, four pass deflections and one sack for three yards. Junior Deshaun Jackson contributed four tackles, three pass deflections and one blocked field goal, while junior Soni Takafua recorded three tackles and applied seven quarterback hurries.

The defensive unit as a whole registered 18 pass deflections and 10 quarterback hurries, consistently disrupting El Dorado’s passing attack.

Rangel handled kickoff duties, averaging 33.0 yards on eight attempts with a long of 44 yards. Quinn managed punting responsibilities, averaging 34.5 yards on two punts with a long of 53 yards.

The Hawks’ offensive line paved the way for the record-breaking rushing performance, with several linemen recording pancake blocks. Jackson led the way with four pancake blocks, while senior Kyle Quaresma and Takafua each contributed two. Junior Cutler Perez and junior D. Swearingen each added one pancake block to the impressive total of 10 for the game.

The victory provided a perfect Senior Night celebration for the Hawks’ senior class, including Peterson, Tucker, Sosa, Rangel, Quaresma, David Romo, Cesar Becerra, Hunter Adversalo, Cole Maguire and Gabe Onuegbu, all of whom contributed to the dominant performance.

With this commanding victory, the Hawks demonstrated their readiness for the challenges ahead while giving their seniors a night to remember. The team’s explosive offensive performance and stifling defense showcased the balanced attack that has made them a formidable opponent this season.
