Galt, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch Jr. Hawks delivered a thrilling Super Bowl weekend at Liberty Ranch High School Stadium, showcasing big-time plays, standout performances and a long-awaited championship victory that brought hardware back to Galt.
8U: Heart, Grit and Big Plays Despite a Narrow Loss
The Jr. Hawks 8U squad battled wire-to-wire against a tough Corning Lions team, ultimately falling just short in a 24–22 nail-biter that came down to the final possession.
Liberty Ranch lit up the field with explosive moments throughout the contest. Running back Trey Messersmith broke free for two electrifying 50-yard touchdown runs, giving the home crowd plenty to cheer for and keeping the Hawks in contention. On defense, Joe Springmyer came up with a huge interception in the second half, shifting momentum and keeping the Hawks within striking distance.
Despite the final score not going their way, coaches highlighted the team’s toughness, growth and relentless effort throughout the entire season. The 8U Hawks left everything on the field and represented Liberty Ranch with pride.
10U: Total Domination and a Championship for the Hawks
The 10U Hawks came out firing and controlled the game from the opening whistle, cruising to a dominant 46-6 victory over Corning to claim the Super Bowl title.
MVP of the day: JoJo Armstrong, who delivered one of the most explosive first quarters in Jr. Hawks history. On his first play from scrimmage, Armstrong exploded for a 52-yard touchdown run. On his second touch, he added a 36-yard touchdown. Not finished yet, Armstrong recorded a 35-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown on the defensive side of the ball: all in the opening quarter.
Four different Liberty Ranch players found the end zone, highlighting the depth and offensive firepower of the 10U squad. The defense was equally impressive, limiting Corning to just six points while forcing multiple turnovers and controlling the line of scrimmage.
The victory marks Liberty Ranch’s first Super Bowl championship in four years, a major milestone for the program and a testament to the dedication of players, coaches and families throughout the season.
From big-play energy to championship execution, Super Bowl weekend at Liberty Ranch High School Stadium was one to remember. Coaches, staff and cheerleaders all played a crucial role in the teams’ preparation and success, and the 10U squad brought the rings home in style.
“As a first-year president and 12U head coach, I couldn’t be more excited about where our program is headed,” said Liberty Ranch Jr. Hawks president Trevor Messersmith. “We have the best players, parents, staff and coaches around. This season was full of success: two regular-season championships, our 12U going undefeated until the league title game and both our 8U and 10U teams earning their way to the Super Bowl. There’s a ton of talent, hard work and dedication in this program. It’s a great day to be a Hawk, and around here success isn’t given; it’s earned.”
With strong performances across multiple age groups and a championship banner now hanging in the rafters, the future looks bright for Liberty Ranch Jr. Hawks football. The program’s commitment to development, teamwork and competitive excellence was on full display throughout Super Bowl weekend, proving that the Hawks are a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
