Galt Warriors Cross Country Advances to Section Championships

GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt High School cross country program is headed to the CIF San Joaquin Section Championships in Folsom with multiple teams and individual qualifiers earning their spots through impressive subsection performances.
The Girls Frosh/Soph Team dominated its Division 4 race, capturing first place to punch its ticket to sections. The Freshman Boys also advanced with a solid fourth-place finish in their D4 race. Individual qualifiers advancing include sophomore Daniel Crownover (Sophomore Boys), senior Alejandro Herrera (Boys Varsity) and senior Emily Razo (Girls Varsity).

The Girls Frosh/Soph squad delivered a complete team effort in the 2-mile race, led by sophomore Joseline Jimenez, who finished 13th overall with a time of 16:15. Freshman Kaylee Meixner followed in 17th place (16:27), with sophomore Danielle Aragon taking 22nd (16:57) and freshman AnaLucia Alvarado close behind in 24th (17:00). Freshman Jade Garcia placed 44th (17:54), and freshman Allison Miller rounded out the scoring in 79th (20:59).
“One of our top Freshman Girls had an injury, so for all the girls to step up as a team and win was awesome,” said Galt Head Coach Bruce Peterson.
The Boys Freshman team overcame challenges to secure its fourth-place finish and section berth in the 2-mile race. Christian Juarez led the Warriors with a 13th-place finish in 13:08. Isaac Rodriguez placed 17th (13:29), followed by Cristian Gomez, also in 17th (13:39). Jayden Sirben secured 23rd place (13:57) while Damian Miller took 29th (14:42). Also competing were Aaron Garcia (14:50), Trevor Rojas (15:49), Wyatt Wymer (18:02) and Diego Flores (18:10).
“The Boys Freshman team also had outstanding races considering some of our kids were sick this weekend,” Peterson noted.
Sophomore Daniel Crownover earned his section berth with a strong sixth-place finish in the Boys Sophomore 2-mile race, clocking 12:30.40. David Espinoza Terrones finished 33rd (13:46), with Aaron Gonzalez (14:27), Mason Garcia (14:59) and Amilio Gomez (15:45) also contributing. The Boys Sophomore Team finished ninth overall.
In the Boys Varsity 5K race, senior Alejandro Herrera qualified individually with a time of 18:08. Junior Mateo Mejia Beas (21:27), Elliott Kramer (22:20), Edwyn Gallardo (23:02), Rylan Graviette (23:08), Jayden Tacket (23:50) and Julian Alvarado (24:13) also competed.

Senior Emily Razo advanced from the Girls Varsity 5K race with a time of 22:26. The Girls Varsity team achieved its highest group placement since 2022 by finishing 12th at the subsection meet. Also running were Morgan Jones (24:54), Courtney Brouwer (26:11), Paola Corral (26:49) and another runner at 28:21.
“I’m proud of our runners’ performance, especially given the challenges of illness and injury leading up to the race,” said Peterson. “Our team has strong young runners who have excelled this year. It is exciting for everyone that they were able to advance to the CIF SJS Section Championships.”
The Warriors will compete at the Section Championships at the Willow Hills Course in Folsom on Saturday, Nov. 15, looking to cap off a successful season with strong performances at the section level.
