GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 2 for local luxury hairstylist Krystal Mason to celebrate the opening of her new salon, Krystaldoeskolor, on North Lincoln Way across from Galt High School.

The salon, located in Suite 20, was filled with friends, family and longtime clients who gathered to support Mason and her business. Krystaldoeskolor offers a range of hairstyling services including hair extensions, highlights, haircuts and Japanese head spa treatments.

Chamber Director Kat Seabolt and chamber board president Kari Markel attended to help facilitate the ribbon-cutting. For Markel, the ceremony marked her final day serving as board president, and she shared a few words not only in her official role but also as one of Mason’s clients.

Markel noted that she first heard about Mason through her sister and has been going to her ever since.

“I just absolutely loved her, and I think her and her family are so deserving of it,” Markel said. “Krystal does a lot for the community.”

Local luxury hairstylist Krystal Mason speaks to guests during her Dec. 2 ribbon-cutting ceremony outside her salon located on North Lincoln Way, across from Galt High School.

Mason told guests that her first day of cosmetology school was Sept. 8, 2020, and she graduated in less than a year. She expressed her appreciation for the steady support she has received since beginning her hairstylist journey.

“I’ve always had this dream, ever since I was in high school… I just felt like that was what I was meant to be,” she said. “I know that there’s a hairstylist on every corner, but people continually choose me over and over, and it just means a lot to me and my family.”

Mason cut the ribbon with her husband, three children and mother by her side. A representative from the office of Sen. Roger Niello, Mika Klinsmann, presented Mason with a certificate recognizing the salon’s grand opening.

“It is such an honor to be here today to witness your milestone for you, your family and for the entire community,” Klinsmann said.

Mason’s mother, Heidi Cheary, told The Galt Herald she was proud to see how far her daughter has come since starting cosmetology school five years ago.

“She’s got a lot of clientele; everybody loves her in Galt,” Cheary said. “Everybody sticks together in this town.”

Mason echoed that sentiment, noting that she and her family have lived in Galt for 20 years and that the amount of support shown at the ceremony meant a great deal. She explained she began doing hair four years ago and has been grateful for the community that has helped her grow in a short time.

“Like these people, I see them at cheer practice, I see them at school drop-offs and they’ve all chosen me,” she said.

Mason also credited the chamber for helping her build connections and expand her business, saying that joining was “probably one of the best things I’ve done.”

As a mother, she said she is intentional about creating a welcoming space for other mothers.

“I know as a mom myself I think it’s nice to come get your hair done; there’s a couch for you if you need to bring your child and I only work one-on-one with one client at a time,” Mason said. “It’s just a great place for people to come and get multiple services done and knock them all out with their favorite hairstylist.”
