Designed for inclusivity, the playground ensures children can feel safe, independent, active and included while engaging in fair play. Its Nature Grounds features bring nature into the space, enhancing the standard playground experience.

The playground also includes outdoor adult fitness equipment and playful community pathways, creating a space that engages the entire family.

With the completion of the playground, Galt has been recognized as a National Demonstration Site, complete with on-site QR code feedback stations and interactive learning resources.

Newly appointed Galt Mayor Bonnie Rodriguez was in attendance to help facilitate the ribbon cutting. She noted that the project highlights the city’s commitment to providing innovative and inclusive recreational spaces for all residents.

“This park just helps fill a whole different need and brings so much to this community,” Rodriguez said.

“I’m very proud of our staff… they’ve been out there talking to the community to find out what residents want,” she added. “You can tell with all these people here, even adults are using it. It’s just a great asset to have and something for our community.”

Stepping into her new role as mayor, Rodriguez said that she hopes more projects like this come to fruition and that residents see the efforts of city council to hear their needs.

“I hope we have more parks that can fit the needs of the community, and I hope that the community sees this and sees that the council is listening, that staff are listening,” said Rodriguez. “If they have any other ideas or thoughts that they have, come forward and go to the parks and rec meetings or to council with those ideas because that’s how these things come to be.”
