GALT, CA (MPG) - The Galt Warriors wrestling program made its presence felt across two tournaments this past weekend, with the squad splitting up to compete at separate venues and returning home with an impressive medal haul.
While brothers Carson and Caleb McEwen represented the Warriors at the prestigious Cotter Memorial Varsity Tournament at Hiram Johnson High School, the remainder of the boys’ and girls’ teams traveled to Mesa Verde High School for the Maverick Roundup. The strategic split paid dividends, as Galt wrestlers proved they could compete at the highest levels on multiple fronts.
At the Cotter Memorial, Carson McEwen battled through a competitive bracket to claim fourth place, while Caleb McEwen finished fifth in his weight class. The tournament, known for attracting some of the region's top varsity talent, provided valuable experience against elite competition.
Meanwhile, at Mesa Verde, the Warriors put on a dominant display, with every Galt competitor reaching the podium with a third-place finish or better.

Leading the charge were Everett Maraspini and Jacqueline Dahl, who both captured first-place finishes in their respective weight classes. The pair of champions showcased the depth and versatility of the Warriors program, with Dahl’s victory highlighting the continued growth of Galt’s girls’ wrestling squad.
Four Warriors claimed silver medals at the Maverick Roundup. Christian Juarez, Taylor Bentley, Wyatt Burns and Niko Gonzales each finished as runners-up in their weight classes, demonstrating the team’s strength across multiple divisions.
Rounding out the medal count were third-place finishers Mars Gutierrez, Mickey Le, Jordyn Asunción and Mason Garcia. The quartet of bronze medalists ensured that every Galt wrestler who competed at Mesa Verde left with hardware around their neck.
The weekend’s results reflect the Warriors’ commitment to competing at multiple levels while maintaining excellence across the board. With tournament season in full swing, Galt’s wrestling program continues to build momentum as it prepares for the crucial league competitions ahead.
