GALT, CA (MPG) - On the evening of Jan. 25, shortly before midnight, a Galt Police Department sergeant attempted to stop a Mercedes-Benz for failing to stop at a stop sign near the intersection of Twin Cities Road and Marengo Road.

The driver immediately accelerated and fled, leading officers in a vehicle pursuit.

The Mercedes-Benz traveled westbound on Twin Cities Road toward Midway Road, where the Sergeant attempted a pursuit immobilization technique (PIT), which was unsuccessful. A second pursuit immobilization technique maneuver was performed shortly after, causing the vehicle to spin around before continuing eastbound on Twin Cities Road.

Due to mechanical issues, the Mercedes-Benz came to a stop just west of the railroad tracks on Twin Cities Road. The male driver and male passenger immediately fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers took both suspects into custody.

The driver was identified as 24-year-old Gilberto Jaramillio Jr. of Stockton, and the passenger was identified as 22-year-old Raul Ochoa of Stockton.

Jaramillio Jr. was arrested for felony evading, driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08%, driving on a suspended license for DUI, resisting arrest and an outstanding out-of-county felony warrant. Ochoa was arrested for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct (drunk in public).

Both suspects were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. Jaramillio Jr.’s bail was set at $50,000 and Ochoa is ineligible for bail.
