GALT, CA (MPG) - The Liberty Ranch Hawks boys’ soccer team celebrated Senior Night on Feb. 4 in grand fashion, honoring graduating players before battling Rosemont to a 1-1 draw. The emotional pregame ceremony saw seniors Hunter Adversalo, Alex Becerra, James Rangel, Mario Rubalcava, Danny Juarez, Leyton Munoz, Miguel Aguiar, Aiden Rivera, Pedro Velasquez, Ellissua Gonzalez, Cristobal Flores, Alan Montelonga, Cesar Becerra, Gustavo Cortez, Aaron Sulamo and Jose Pacheco walk onto the pitch with their parents and loved ones, passing through a tunnel formed by teammates and cheerleaders.
While the Hawks hoped to send their large senior class off with a victory, Rosemont had other plans. The 1-1 draw was a surprising result given that Liberty Ranch had dominated the same opponent 8-2 earlier in the season. However, the tie does little to damage the Hawks’ championship aspirations, as they maintain first place in the league with an impressive 12-0-1 record. Freshman Evan Rangel made the Hawks’ only goal from a spot way out on the pitch.

The stage is now set for a dramatic season finale. Liberty Ranch must face crosstown rival Galt High School one more time, and that match will determine the league championship. Galt enters the showdown with a 12-1 record, meaning the Warriors could either capture the title outright with a victory or force a shared championship similar to last year’s outcome.
Senior Danny Juarez has been the offensive catalyst for Liberty Ranch all season, leading the team with 21 goals and averaging 1.2 goals per game. His 45 points pace the Hawks and make him one of the most prolific scorers in the league. Juarez’s ability to find the back of the net in crucial moments has been instrumental in Liberty Ranch’s undefeated league run.
Junior Christian Maciel has been the perfect complement to Juarez, serving as both scorer and facilitator. Maciel has contributed 11 goals while leading the team with 16 assists, averaging 0.9 assists per game. His 38 points rank second on the squad, and his vision and passing ability have made him the engine that drives Liberty Ranch’s attack.

Cristobal Flores heads the ball.
Junior Isaac Flores provides another dangerous weapon, having scored 14 goals while adding seven assists for 35 points. Flores averages 0.8 goals per game, giving Liberty Ranch a third player capable of taking over matches. The trio of Juarez, Maciel and Flores has terrorized opposing defenses all season, combining for 46 goals and creating matchup nightmares for every opponent.
Junior Beto Dominguez has been a valuable contributor as well, recording five assists and adding another dimension to an already potent Hawks attack.
In goal, the Hawks have benefited from a strong tandem. Junior Abraham Flores has been the primary goalkeeper, recording 39 saves and averaging 2.2 saves per game with 1.376 goals against average. Senior Alex Becerra, one of the players honored on Senior Night, has also contributed significantly between the posts, making 13 saves with an impressive 0.593 goals against average. The combination has given Liberty Ranch confidence in its defensive third throughout the season.

The pregame tunnel formed by teammates and cheerleaders created a memorable moment as each senior walked onto the pitch with his family. The emotional ceremony reminded everyone in attendance that high school sports are about more than just wins and losses; they’re about relationships, memories and the bonds formed through shared experiences.
The 1-1 draw with Rosemont may not have been the result the Hawks wanted on Senior Night, but it doesn’t diminish what this team has accomplished. Liberty Ranch’s 12-0-1 record is a testament to its consistency, talent and determination. The Hawks have dominated league play from start to finish, with their only blemish being the draw on Senior Night.
Now all attention turns to the championship match against Galt. The crosstown rivalry will take on added significance as the league title hangs in the balance. Liberty Ranch holds a slight advantage with its undefeated record, but Galt’s only loss came earlier in the season, and the Warriors will be hungry for revenge and a championship.

The Hawks have the offensive firepower to win any match, led by Juarez’s prolific scoring and supported by Maciel’s playmaking and Flores’ versatility. Their goalkeeping has been solid, and their 12-0-1 record speaks to their ability to find ways to win.
For the 16 seniors, one final match remains to cap their high school careers. A victory would mean an outright league championship and the perfect ending to their Liberty Ranch soccer journey. The stage is set, the stakes are clear, and the entire community will be watching when these crosstown rivals meet to decide the championship.
