GALT, CA (MPG) - Looking to give back to the local food bank while sharing a meal with neighbors? Community members can support the Galt Sunshine Food Pantry & Resource Center, Inc. during its annual Empty Bowls fundraiser dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7.

Organizers say the evening offers “so much more than a good meal.”

The fundraiser is the pantry’s primary source of funding, helping to sustain twice-a-month food distribution operations and support the expansion of its physical space to meet the growing needs of the community’s most vulnerable residents.

In 2025, the Sunshine Food Pantry served about 39,000 individuals and transitioned from operating inside Galt United Methodist Church to its own standalone building nearby. Proceeds from the event will go directly toward “keeping the lights on” at the pantry, from covering utility bills to ensuring there is enough food for those in need.

The event will be held at Littleton Community Center, 410 Civic Center Drive. Dinner includes a variety of soups, salad and bread with ticket purchase. The evening will also feature live music, local artisan bowls for sale, a silent auction of gift baskets and other activities. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
